DESCRIPTION
Using project-based instruction, students are introduced to the foundations of finance and the role finance, credit, savings, investments, and estate planning play in business. Various technological tools will be used to assist in modeling financial decisions. Business partnerships with financial service institutions, guest speakers, field trips, and work-based learning activities can be incorporated in this course.

OBJECTIVES
‘ Describe financial resources for personal income and the need for and types of financial planning involved to reach one’s personal goals including using credit wisely.
‘ Understand (1) the need for both accounting and finance and how they are impacted by the US and global economies, (2) how different forms of business ownership affect the financial success of a business, and how currency and the global currency exchange rates can impact business in the U.S.
‘ Understand how the cost of money and financing can impact the success of a business.
‘ Determine the benefits of various financial institutions and what each can offer to the consumer to meet that consumer’s preferred level of risk.
‘ Demonstrate an understanding of the legal aspects of estate planning including trusts and estates and the taxes and laws, which can have an impact on those decisions.

EVALUATION The Fulton County grading policy is as follows:
Tests/Quizzes (35%) A = 90-100
Assignments/Portfolio/Projects (40%) B = 80-89
Work Ethics (10%) C = 70-79
Final Exam (15%) F = 0-69

Late work is not accepted unless previous arrangements are made with the teacher prior to the due date.

Morning make-up days and times will be posted on the board each week.

FULTON COUNTY RECOVERY POLICY
Provision for Improving Grades
Opportunities designed to allow students to recover from a low or failing cumulative grade will be allowed when all work required to date has been completed and the student has demonstrated a legitimate effort to meet all course requirements including attendance.

Students should contact the teacher concerning recovery opportunities. Teachers are expected to establish a reasonable time period for recovery work to be completed during the semester. All recovery work must be directly related to course objectives and must be completed ten school days prior to the end of the semester. Teachers will determine when and how students with extenuating circumstances may improve their grades.

CHATTAHOOCHEE HIGH SCHOOL GUIDELINES
Recovery is available to students with a cumulative grade below 74% after a minimum of two (2) major grades. The maximum grade a student can earn for a recovery activity is 70%. There will be only one recovery opportunity per failed major assignment or test. The individual teacher will determine the means of recovery. THE STUDENT MUST INITIATE THE PROCESS WITHIN FIVE (5) DAYS OF NOTIFICATION OF A FAILING GRADE ON A MAJOR ASSIGNMENT/TEST.
